Death toll hits 86 after military C-130 crashes in Indonesian town

Jakarta, Indonesia( CNN ) -Searchers pulled more bodies Wednesday from the charred wreckage of an Indonesian military plane that authorities say was carrying more than 120 people when it crashed near a residential area. Military personnel and their family members, civilians and some students were among those on board the C-130 Hercules plane that went down shortly after takeoff Tuesday in Medan, on the Indonesian island of Sumatra. So far, 91 bodies have been recovered from the crash site, Air Marshal Agus Supriatna, the commander of the Indonesian Air Force, said Wednesday. But more are expected to be retrieved from the shattered remains of the large transport aircraft.   The military transport plane had 122 people aboard -- 110 passengers and 12 crew members -- when it took off from Soewondo Air Force Base in Medan, according to Supriatna. An Abuja Federal High Court on Tuesday granted an application by the Senate Majority Leader, Ali Ndume, who is charged with links to Boko Haram, to allow him travel to Saudi Arabia for the lesser Hajj. Breaking News: Buhari appoints Mrs Zakari as Acting Chairman INEC

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Mrs Amina Bala Zakari as the Acting Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) following the conclusion of the term of Office of Prof. Attahiru Jega. This was disclosed in a statement signed by Haruna Imrana, Director of Communications for the Head of Civil Service of the Federation. According to the statement, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Barr. Danladi Kifasi who conveyed the appointment in a letter, said it is with effect from June 30, 2015 until the appointment of a substantive Chairman. The Deadline for BVN Registration Has Been Extended

The Central Bank of Nigeria has extended the deadline for Bank Verification Number (BVN) registration, which is ongoing across the country, the News Agency of Nigeria is reporting. The bank had earlier fixed Tuesday, June 30, as deadline for the exercise, warning that defaulters may not be able to access to their accounts from July 1. The Ondo State Government has restated its commitment to enforcing the rights of the people living with HIV and AIDS in the state.
