So Little For Love By Ubaji Isiaka Abubakar

So Little for Love
.
I learnt Adam and Samson fell
For the sake of love,
Yet, I think their acts too diminutive
For such a noble cause as love.

.

For love shall I call back olden days of chivalry
Defeat foes and request them seek penance from milady,
I shall crush the heads of multitudes,

.

Wipe my crimson sword with flesh,
Then sit on my horse and dedicate
My knightly endeavours to milady
But even that; me thinks; is still too small
A thing to do for love.

.
For love shall I rebuild the Taj Mahal
But not on the Indian soil nor anywhere on earth
I shall have it built on the moon
Every of its bricks will be cast in gold
With milady's name crested on them.
I shall plant trees on the moon and have water
Taken from the earth to water them daily
Yet I fear that would not do.

.

If only this would do;
I should reenact the Trojan war
But ten years will be too small--
I shall fight till the end of World War II--
For if ugly Helen could have men fight for ten years
Milady deserves a trillion more;
Yet will it be of little worth for love's sake.

.
All the pyramids of Egypt
Combined with that of the Aztec race
Will be just a grain in the ocean of love.
And even if I gifted the Hanging Gardens
It only proves how little I love milady.

.
Should I give her the earth
Nay, let us say the universe as a whole
And everything in it
I should still find no satiation
I should still think I could have done far better
For love is worth a million universes

.
And even if I carve out my heart
And present it to milady on a platter of gold
And kneel before her as blood gushes out of my chest
I should still cry and tear out the hairs on my head
While berating myself for having done so little for love.

#ComeToClassWithKingIfey #WrongEnglishWeSpeak  Good morning beautiful earthlings of King Ifey's blog(KIB). You all are officially KIB students😀😀. Welcome to the permanent site.  You can rest assured your spoken English will get an unprecedented make-over right here on KIB. Alright let's get  down to brass tacks.  Today,  we are looking at the idiom Rest assured What does it mean

Do you say 'talk more of' or 'talk less of'? Also, how to pronounce 'parliament'

My beautiful KIB students, today,  you will be happy learning the correct way to express yourselves. Nigerians have a way of changing typical English expressions to suit them. Someone still had to argue with me that the English expression 'Better the devil you know than the devil you don't "  is so wrong and does not make sense.  He opines that angel should be there.  He forgets that English can be quite illogical to our Nigerian minds. Lol. People say things like. 'He has not even proposed talk more of walking down the aisle with me' 'He does not have a car,  talk less a house" Well these two expressions or collocations are not common in British and American English. Here are the universal conventional English collocations for Nigerian English's  'Talk more of' and 'Talk less of',  #LetAlone 'Let alone' is  used to indicate that something is far less likely or suitable than something else already mentioned. E.g ...
